Personal Safety in Public Places with Chris Pendas of Staying Safe

Updated: May 5, 2021

Safety in Plain Sight for Parents

While many people say there is danger in plain sight, there is safety in plain sight as well. In my conversation with Chris Pendas of Staying Safe, LLC we discuss the everyday things that parents can do to protect themselves and their children.

Chris has had a keen interest in martial arts since his early childhood with the introduction of action films from the '80s and '90s. This led his parents to enroll him into traditional martial arts, which evolved into boxing until he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served in many locations overseas.

While serving in the Marines, Chris became a Marine Corps Martial Arts instructor training both Marines and locals alike. After the Marine Corps, Chris worked as a contractor protecting cargo vessels from piracy near the Horn of Africa and in executive protection where he also served as a Regional Defensive Tactics instructor for a leading firm in the United States.

Chris currently works for the Department of State as a Security Specialist. Presently, his training is focused on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where he holds the rank of brown belt.
